M4 Sherman 105mm

Though the U.S. and Allied forces was decisively winning in the latter stages of WWII, there remained concern about the inferiority of the Sherman tank in firepower and armour protection compared to the German Tiger and Panther. It is said that the U.S. matched the superior quality of German tanks only by the superior Quantity of allied tanks. And this was largely true. The Sherman did not fare well in tank-to-tank slugging matches with their giant German counterparts- shells often harmlessly bounced off the thick German armour! One of the most powerful variants of the M4 Sherman was the 105mm Howitzer equipped version, which provided valuable fire support for the U.S. infantry as well as extensive use in anti-tank operations.

A great little kit, the suspension works like a dream! Lots and LOTS of stowage and equipment to give it that authentic US lived in look, all thats missing are a few hershy bars and pin up gals! hmmmm, back to the bits box ;O)

A nice solid and pleasing kit, the M4 Sherman is always a pleasure to build

Suspension works a dream, check out the pipe on the side, slip it over the barrle and yo got the enemy thinking your a 75mm, cunning uh?!

Might have to give the pan a wipe before we get the sausages on Fred

Added a few more sandbags, thought it was only fair to give the crew a false sense of security now the Jagdtiger is on the scene!

The rear engine deck....somewhere under that lot!

Close-up of the turret

Check out the tin bath, no where can I get hold of a kitchen sink....?

Nice front view, the 'mud' is simply brown paint, a little PVA, drop of water and mud

Stuka-eye view

'Pipe down with the Karaoka Jo, I'm trying to get the race results'

Always like my tanks to look well lived in. The 'rope' is simply picture wire painted, well, erm, a ropey colour :O)

The tow cable is simply twisted electrical wire, simple and cheap

Opened up the drivers hatch and bobbed a chap in there, always meant to do this but never found the time!

Last call for the 4.30 to Berlin!

Inspired one day while watching Kelly's Heroes!

Finally feel this tank is finished, I mean anything else and its suspension will probably collapse!

Bunch of freeloaders
